Who We Are

About Us

Namasté is a member community of the Centers for Spiritual Living. Our teaching centers around the work of Ernest Holmes and his seminal work, The Science of Mind. The Science of Mind philosophy, also known as Religious Science, teaches that our thoughts are creative and that through our thinking we can change the circumstances of our lives.

What is Religious Science?

There is a power for good in the universe that is available to everyone who understands and knows how to use it. Religious Science is a way of life and thinking that helps people realize their true nature and individual goals in life Very simply, we believe that the universe is fundamentally spiritual - it has intelligence, purpose, beauty and order. Whether we call it God, Nature, Spirit, energy or universal intelligence, all emanates from this spiritual universe.

We believe this universal intelligence is within us as well as around us, and that we can use this intelligence to the extent we are conscious of it. Our beliefs are in harmony with the basic tenets of all the world's great religions and many of our students are practicing Christians, Jews and those of other faiths.

Religious Science teaches how to discover the strength, power and courage that is inherent within each of us. As a science, it is based on specific principles that have been verified by many of the world's leading scientists. Scientific knowledge is applied through individually tailored techniques to expand our thinking and our experience of life.

As a philosophy, Religious Science is an easily applied way of thinking about the nature of the universe and our relationship to it. When we understand ourselves as both creations and co-creators of the universe, we are free to express the unlimited potential within us. As a religion, Religious Science is a metaphysical expression of universal truths revealed in all the world's religions.

What We Believe
by Ernest Holmes

We believe in God, the Living Spirit Almighty; one, indestructible, absolute, and self-existent Cause. This One manifests itself in and through all creation but is not absorbed by its creation. The manifest universe is the body of God; it is the theological and necessary outcome of the infinite self-knowingness of God.

We believe in the incarnation of the Spirit in everyone and that all people are incarnations of the One Spirit.

We believe in the eternality, the immortality, and the continuity of the individual soul, forever and ever expanding. We believe that the Kingdom of Heaven is within us and that we experience this Kingdom to the degree that we become conscious of it. We believe the ultimate goal to be a complete emancipation from all discord of every nature, and that this goal is sure to be attained by all. We believe in the unity of all life, and that the highest God and the innermost God is one God.

We believe that God is personal to all who feel this Indwelling Presence. We believe in the direct revelation of Truth through the intuitive and spiritual nature of the individual, and that any person may become a revealer of Truth who lives in close contact with the Indwelling God. We believe that the Universal Spirit, which is God, operates through a Universal Mind, which is the Law of God; and that we are surrounded by this Creative Mind which receives the direct impress of our thought and acts upon it.

We believe in the healing of the sick through the power of this Mind. We believe in the control of conditions through the power of this Mind. We believe in the eternal Goodness, the eternal Loving-kindness, and the eternal Givingness of Life to all.

We believe in our own soul, our own spirit, and our own destiny; for we understand that the life of all is God.
